Harvest I

Original and uniquely designed minimalist necklace in geometric form. Entirely hand made from 925 sterling silver with a superb gold plated matte finish.  The chain is entirely made by hand.

The inspiration for this collection was the ¨wheat¨.   I designed this collection for my participation in the exhibition “Fruits and Symbols” as a visual conversation between prominent examples of ancient coinage and contemporary jewelry by Greek and foreign artists at the Athens Monetary Museum.   Τhe nature, the labor of the earth and the fruit production are concepts inherent in the instinct of survival, and this is what I am dealing with. The wheat represent  for me an ancient fruit / symbol of human survival, which in the Greek tradition of my homeland was connected with the great feast of “Theros”, the ritual and the customs of the harvest.  Also Ιn ancient Greek religion the precious wheat had its goddess Dimitra, who gave people the fruits of the earth. I approached and designed the shape of the wheat and finally the whole composition, in abstract forms, to clearly refer to the fruit, but not to try to resemble it by a naturalistic way.

Care: To keep in good condition avoid spraying perfume or putting lotion on the skin near the jewellery and remove before swimming or bathing. Contact with the light will blacken the jewellery. Keep stored in a cool, dark and dry area.
